Iceman Prep Ride…

2 11 2009

This is the final week of preparations before Saturday’s 2009 Iceman Cometh Challenge. A group Rail Trail ride is planned for Wednesday Nov. 4th at 5:15 pm sharp.  Meet at the Sanford main trail head (where the bathrooms are).   Bring a light if you have one.

Good luck to all of the “Iceman” participants! The weather forecast looks promising.  I hope that their calculations are accurate.  Stay safe, have fun!

If you are planning to be in the 2009 Iceman, click on the comments button below and post your name and any tips that you may have for first time Iceman riders (like myself).  It would be interesting to see which of our chapter members (and/or followers of this site) will be competing. See you in the beer tent at the finish!

Iceman Goeth via Snail Mail

4 03 2009

12:00 PM Wednesday March 4, 2009

Okay, here’s the new plan! If you click on the “Register Now” star, you will find a pdf of the 2009 Iceman entry form. Print that and fill it out. Then throw it back in the mail to the address on the form by this Saturday, March 7th, and we’ll take it from there. The key is that ALL entries postmarked by Saturday March 7th will be accepted.

We are close to being able to post a list of the riders who were able to register on Monday evening. SBO has been working around the clock (literally) to clean up the data and to correct duplicate credit card charges and that process is almost completed.

Sincerely,

Steve Brown

Hey Ladies…

WW @ Ray's

WW @ Ray's

Traffic on the Northeast Chapter website has increased lately thanks to the Iceman Cometh and Goeth controversy.  I don’t have any news to report on that topic yet, but I am feeling the need to provide some new content.  I figure that you can’t go wrong with women tearing it up at Ray’s Indoor MTB Park!

Read more about the Women’s Weekend at Ray’s on the Dirt Rag Blog.  Also, check out the female freeriders at the FreerideFoundation blog.  Were any of our ladies at the Ray’s event?  Get that on your calendar for next year!

Iceman 2009 @ 7pm tonight!

2 03 2009

…any bets on whether it will crash again.  It would be easier on their server, if they staged the registration by classification and age, but we’ll leave that to the experts.  Good Luck!

Update: Down again!…it may be faster to snail mail your entry.  Did anyone register before the crash?

Iceman Notification!

27 02 2009

8:00 PM Friday February 27, 2009

We are now postponing registration for the 2009 Iceman Cometh Challenge until Monday March 2, 2009 at 7:00 PM (EST). That will give us a chance to reconstruct the system after the malicious attack by somebody who created a program to automatically register himself that contacted SBO 100,000 times in one minute at approximately 6:30 PM tonight.

SBO will also be working to insure that this kind of attack does not impact their system again in the future.

I am very sorry for any inconvience this has caused you and I know that many of you planned your day around registering for Iceman this evening. I just hope that you can have a great weekend and that we’ll see you back here on Monday night.

Sincerely,

Steve Brown
