Pain Haven Race Website Updated!

Our little Northeast Chapter doesn’t do much in the “Race” category, but we do have the 30 Miles of Pain Haven.  This is a great racing event that suits all rider skill levels and age groups.  Jeff Adamcik has recently updated the website and has provided the registration link.  So get registered!  Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 26th at the Pine Haven Rec Area in Sanford, MI.  For more information please follow this link…

Having raced the Pain Haven last year as a “non-racer”, I can attest to it being a great introduction to competitive mountain biking.  I entered in the Sport class and thoroughly enjoyed it.  That being said, there will be plenty of competition at the higher level and cash prizes for the podium finishers.  See you there!

Wednesday MMCC Ride…

This Wednesday Aug. 26th at Mid Michigan Community College – ride leaves at 6pm sharp! For those interested in an early lap – some plan to be there at 4:45pm.

Note: School is back in session at MMCC. If the front parking lot is full, continue on to the back parking area. This area is open during the week for overflow parking. DO NOT PARK ON GRASS!

IMBA is sponsoring it’s sixth annual Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009.  A day to introduce kids ages 6 – 16 to the sport of mountain biking, to experience local trails and to have some good ol’ fun in the dirt. Your MMBA Northeast chapter would like to participate and host a local event.  Save the date.  We are trying to get organized and make this happen.

MMCC Trail Added…

The Mid Michigan Community College Trail has (finally) been added to our TRAILS tab.  Steve Hoffman and Vaughn Murray are the trail coordinators. There is a link to our MMCC Trail Report topic on the MMBA Forum.  Please use this topic to report any issues, make suggestions, share a ride story, etc.  The trail is seeing a lot of action this Summer.  If you haven’t ridden it yet, you should.  Also note that this trail is posted “no hunting“…so ride it safely, until the snow start dumping.

Wednesday Ride…

Group ride!  Wednesday Aug 12th, Mid Michigan Community College trail – 6pm sharp!  Trail is in GREAT shape (we rode it Sunday and it was outstanding)

Please note that the main parking lot will be closed for resurfacing, so we’ll meet at the parking lot where our trail crosses the asphalt road.   Directions:   Continue on Mannsiding Rd past Old Clare Ave (where we normally turn left).   Take 1st drive on left  (approx 100 yards past stop sign) and continue to the 2nd parking lot on left (just before the yellow gates).

It looks like there will be a carpool group leaving (at 5pm) from the parking lot of the “old” Holiday Inn (near conference center) on Wackerly Rd, in Midland.

MMCC Group Ride…

Group ride (tomorrow) Saturday August 8th, Mid Michigan Community College at 9am sharp!  Weather permitting.

Pine Haven Work Party TONIGHT.

Pine Haven Update: Midland County is low on available resources to clear the downed trees within Pine Haven and has given us permission to clear these trees, in preparation for the Pain Haven race in September.

Jeff Adamcik is calling for a trail cleanup work party TODAY (Monday) at 6pm at Pine Haven. If you have a Chain Saw, loppers and/or hand pruners, please bring them!

If all goes well we’ll ride a lap once completed, then enjoy a few Lumber Baron’s Growlers….
